First try on Street photography in Orchard Road Singapore. I am also not sure if this can be considered as Street photography.

My mum’s Orchid with Flash

Tried shooting mum’s Orchid with flash.  Images softened in photoshop.

 

The only shot without flash.Flash right of camera.

  Flash behind left of the main flower.  Wanted to do back light to get the glow in the flower.  Guess it didn’t work very well.

My Mum’s Orchid

Took some shots of my mum’s orchid.  Did soft focus effect on 2 of the pictures.  1 of the pictures have the contrast reduced. 

 

My Bike Reshoot

Did a reshoot of my bike on 21 Aug.  Below are the pictures.  Didn’t wash my bike that day.  Hence, it is a little dirty.  Bet you cannot see it at this size.  Washed my bike today.  But am too tired to shoot it.  Maybe find 1 day go wash and polish in the day then dun ride my bike.   Shoot it at night when it is completely dry.  kekeke.

 

No flash was used for this shot.  Had to edit the photo to bring out the detail of the bike as it was underexposed due to the brighter BG.  Need to fill flash if I do not wish to edit the picture.

 

This shot was taken with aperture at F22 and 30Sec shutter.  I simply just walk to the bike and the flash at will.  The result is some BG shown in the picture.  This is not the result that I am looking for.

 

This picture is taken with he Function of my D700.  Multiple shot with no auto gain.  Had to walk to and fro to change the position of the flash and wait for the shutter to trigger.  The result is total elimination of the BG and only the bike and floor is visible.  This is more like the result I wanted.   

I also had to fire the flash from the top back of the bike aiming at the seats to separate it from the BG.  This is a bit like rim lighting.  If not, you will not be able to see where the seat is.

My Bike

The flash technique I tried with my lens previously has gone big this time.  Tried many times.  I think I need something more powerful or have someone help me do something to my camera while I am moving around to have the background removed to get my “Showroom” effect.  Only the bike and it’s surrounding lighted.  Will try again next time.

Pulau Aur Dive Trip

Went diving over the weekend and doing my first underwater photography with Canon G10 with underwater housing.  I shall stop with this set up for underwater photography is not i will get bankrupt.

Bought the camera only 1 to 2 days before the dive.  Had lots of problem with the white balance.  Only at the last dive did I managed to get it right with custom white balance.  Will repeat this the next time I dive.

Another problem faced is with back scatter when shooting with flash.  Need to find out how to overcome this problem.

My New Watch – Part II

Too bored at home.  Tried shooting my watch with white background this time.  Did not use the black cloth but lowered my wooden blind.  Shot with ambient light with flash wish tungsten gel to give it more of the sunset mood.  I guess I will start to play more with gel already.
