Glass

Too bored at home.  Hence, try to shoot some glassware at home.  Then realized that the Sambuca that was bought I think 10 years ago was still untouched…..  Think is time to drink again.  kekeke.

Yahoo Event and Bonfire 09

Went to shoot the Yahoo event and Bonfire event.  Dunno what to shoot sia for Yahoo.  Actually, dunno what the event is about too.  Went there since claurene have the ticket.  Thanx Claurene.  Was late for the Bon fire event and all front rows taken.  So, just took a couple of shots and left.  Less than 10 mins job there.  hahha.  Too lazy is the word.

My first published works

Received a post from Ethan Whites today.  It is 2 copies of the Spin Asia magazine.  I knew it is the magazine that contains the photos I took during the OSIM triathlon 09.  I didn’t expect that they posted the Trifactor 09 and SAFRA Quadathlon 09 pictures too.  All taken by me.  Kekeke.  Really happy to see my work printed in magazine for the first time.  This is my first earning from photography.

I went to take the OSIM shots with Derek who is shooting for the magazine and teach me the trade.  Learnt from him roughly what the magazine need.  His pictures were wiped out in a harddisk crash and the editor had no choice but to call me 2 days before the printing of the magazine to send him my pictures.  I guess they sure had a rushing time to edit them for printing.

Idea from a movie years back

Remember seeing a poster of a movie years back.  Hence, tried to do the same.  Inside the picture, there are many difference pictures.  Open up the picture to see them.  Not much of a PS trick actually.  Just pure hard work if you have many pictures to combine to make them become the “pixels”.

My Wine Glass Reshoot II - edited

Reshoot my wine glass for the 3rd time.  This time, I switched off all the lights, used a torch with reflectors to observe how the lights light up the glass.  I have concluded that I cannot take the kind of shot that I want with 1 single shot.  Maybe I can but I have not figured how to place the light yet. 

Hence, I decide to take 3 pictures.  Light up the left side to how I want it to light up. Light up the right side to how I want and light up the rim of the glass.

I couldn’t get the rim lighted up properly alone as I cannot hold the torch and see how it looks like at camera’s perspective.  No choice.  Just pump it up.  Still couldn’t get it right.  Sigh.  Pumped it up in ACR and merge the 3 photos in PS.  Below is the result.

Is it better than the previous shots?  I hope it is. 

Edited this photo due to comment from people in CS to help me improve the picture.  I guess I really need to get a monitor and calibrate it properly.  Currently still using my Samsung TV. hehehe.

My Wing Glass Reshoot

Couldn’t sleep.  Keep thinking about the reflection of the table.  Tried shooting again.  result is still not very satisfying.

I can even see my flash in the reflection.  Sigh.

6am now.  Must sleep le.  Working tonight.

My Wine glass

Bought some white and black foam sheets.  Since my camera is already out after the shoot this “morning”, I decided to try shooting some glassware which I have never tried before.  Tried shooting the Macdonald’s Coca Cola glass.  However, I am unable to get the wording to be clear.  Hence, not posting it up.  Need to do some troubleshooting to it.  I did some shoot on my wine glass and the result is as below.

 

Should have used my black cloth to shoot and the reflection of the brown table will not be seen.  Noticed this only after I packed up the stuffs.   Too lazy to reshoot.  Main thing is….  think I got the idea how to get this shot.  Thanks to Prophotolife.

My niece’s Cow

Promised my niece to shoot the cow given by her teacher.  They even have “beauty contest” for it.  This got the 1st.  Tried a few ways to shoot it.

 

Only after the shoot then I realized the double sided tape is visible.  Lazy to reshoot.  Sorry young lady.

Think I just became a fan of someone.

A few days ago, Chiaki showed me a deviant art site of zemotion and another person.  I viewed both and told her I prefer zemotion’s picture.  Not much feeling about it then. 

Today, while surfing the net for information about glamour shots and fashion shots, I came across a site which leads me to many photographer’s pictures.  1 of them is Tony Chu.  I went to look through his pictures in Model Mayhem.  I feel that he is creative.  It really blows my mind.   But may not be my type of picture.  His pictures are nice.  Just not my type. 
From his links of some photographers, 1 picture caught my eye.  I thought well.  This is a very nice photo.  I love it.  Below is the exact picture.

I went to take a look at the picture and guess what.  It’s zemotion’s work.  From then, I knew that I really like her work.  I notice the picture without realizing that it is her work.  I guess I wasn’t paying too much attention when viewing through her work the 1st time round.  I guess I will be visiting her site more often from now.

I think I am being too lazy to use my brain.  I am sure I am not uncreative.  Just being to lazy to put what I think into action.  Better start working hard now.  It may not help a lot in making progress in my photography.  But it beats doing nothing.

Damn it is 6.28am le.  Better go try to sleep.

Safra Quadathlon 09

Before the race begins, the medical team, participants and Coastal Rescue teams are checking, preparing and having the last briefing.

 

At 8am sharp, the flag went off and the participant dashes towards the sea.

 

The first participant out of the water and the others follow suit and ran towards the water point to rinse off the sea water.

 

2nd part of the race is the inline skating.

 

3rd part of the race is cycling.   

 

Finally, the finishing of the last event which is running.  There are people who endured to the finishing point before they give up and needed medical attention.  Really have to give to these people.
