Reshoot of Merlion

Went to reshoot the Merlion today.  The night shoot with the class had a dark sky.  I prefer a slightly bluish sky.  Tried to compose the picture so that I can have the old Westin, Merlion and Esplanade in the picture.  I only realized something is wrong when I looked at the picture at home.

The Merlion is too much to the centre.  Though it is off centered,  it is still not nice.  Must take note of this in future.

I realized that old Westin did not attract me at night time at all.  Think I add it in because I was told to do so the previous time.  Hence, I cropped the picture to my liking.

I may go back again to take picture with the stage as well.  I am attracted to the color of the lights there.

New Lens - 50mm 1.8D

I bought a new lens today. 50mm, 1.8D.  Bought it at Alan Photo.  Damn angry with the guy.  When I called, he quote me $175.  When I go there, he tell me $190.  When I tell him off, he say $175 is before GST.  What Crap?

I bought is anyway since I travelled all the way there already.  No way will I eve purchase from that shop again.

Picture below are the 50mm 1.8D I bought.  Taken with my Adidas T-shirt as the background and wireless flash with my SB800 by the side of my bed.  Lens used is 18-200mm at F11.

Flash Photography

Went to Steward Riverboat for dinner with my gang on Sat.  Tried some flash photography on the food.  It was disastrous.  I was pondering how come there is so much camera shake.  Isn’t my flash powerful enough?  I have finally understood what happened.

I was being tunnel vision.  I keep wanting to take the pictures keeping the ambience lighting and end up setting my camera high ISO, Max aperture and shutter speed to setting at –1EV.  This is damn slow for the kind of lighting that we have.  Since I am taking picture of the food, who cares about the ambience light anyway?  If I really want, then use the colour gel!!!!!  From now on, when taking picture of food, I will set low ISO and at speed that I can get sharp pictures hand-held.  However….. No direct flash.  Let’s see if I can get a better picture. 

For taking picture with the beautiful ladies and having the background in, if it is too far, well to bad a tripod plus rear curtain flash will be my mode of shot i guess.  If hand-held, sorry ladies, I will set at ISO 400, max aperture and at speed 1/focus –1stop for non VR lense and –3stop for VR lens.  There goes the background.  No point having a camera shake background and keep a rather sharp subject anyway.  I would prefer my subject to stay sharp.

Let’s see if there will be any improvement in my next flash photography.

Night Shot in Mandai again

Went to Mandai to take some picture again. The sky is rather clear. Managed to see Orion there and tried to take a photo of it. Unable to see it in the small picture. Need to click on it to see the actual photo. This is my first time trying to take picture of the Orion. Dunno how to take man. Anyone can give me some tips?

Feeling paranoid

While replying to a post in a forum, I realised that I keep changing and changing what I wanted to say. Even after the post, I continue to edit and edit. I think I am afraid of being misunderstood. When did I start to think after I posted something that made me edit it again and again? I hate this. This is not me. I am just a simple guy. Post can still type out, try to beautify it and think deeper before you post. But I do not think I can do it in real time when talking

Sometimes people tends to think too much and misunderstood what I meant when I say something. I am not a smart guy. I am a stupid guy. I am straight forward. A lot of time, I may hurt people unknowingly. Hope people don't think too much when I say something. At least don't think it in the negative way. I do not think I am that mean loh. i am sure if i say mean things you all will know it. Cos I am not clever enough to say 1 thing when i meant the another. I hope I can start to say out my thoughts without the need of thinking too much into it first. It burns brain cells. I hate to think. I prefer to just do it. That's y I always do things by trial and error. hahaha. Do cannot then think of another way. Sure got 1 time u can succeed. Just like how I set up my Radius Server for my project. Spent weeks trying it out til I finally got it working.

Damn even now I don't know if I should post this up. Afraid that I may offend people unknowingly. Ehhh... Now I see what I typed out. Like the things got from 1 thing to another. hahha.. I guess I have messy brain too. Even my thoughts are jumping here and there. Screw it. Just post. The most being misunderstood yet again. Not the 1st time being misunderstood am I?

Isn't this supposed to be a photo blog? Why am I talking so much?
